About Me

Like most introverts I know, I’m not overly fond of talking about myself. In the vein of Althusser, I can tell you I’ve been called “daughter” since 1986 (a good daughter a small portion of that time). I’ve been fortunate to be called “friend,” and even “best friend” on rare occasion. Two people call me “mom” and one calls me “wife.” Others call me “that liberal down the street,” or maybe “that "awkward queer chick next door.” We don’t really get a say in what we’re called, and the moment someone labels you, you’ll be hard pressed to change their minds.

I have a B.S in Psychology, which I used to become a Behavior Therapist to children on the autism spectrum. Working at a non-profit didn’t pay enough to cover daycare, so I stayed at home with my children. With more time on my hands, I pursued my love of writing. I’ve written a few novels, which I’m in the process of re-writing to reflect the growth I’ve experienced in my writing style and voice. I’m also a graduate student at UNC Charlotte, where I’m due to receive my Masters Degree in English within the next few years. I love literary theory and criticism, D/discourse analysis, and creative writing.

This blog reflects a myriad of ideas. Just as the name of the blog implies, I’m a learned fool, one in constant pursuit of experience and knowledge.

My social media links can be found at the bottom and top of the page. You can find me on medium at @ND_Gantz
